The Vankleek Hill Sports Club is excited to bring you youth recreational ball hockey, soccer and baseball this summer.
First up is ball hockey. The spring session runs Wednesday evenings at the Vankleek Hill Community Center from April 10th to May 8th. Times are as follows: U6 - 6:00 to 6:50, U10 - 7:00 to 7:50, and U14 - 8:00 to 8:50.
Soccer will run Wednesday, May 15th to June 19th at Pleasant Corners Public School. The age groups are U6, U9 and U14 and times will be announced shortly.
Baseball will run Wednesday, June 26th to July 31st at the Vankleek Hill Community Center. The age groups and times will be announced closer to the start of the season.
The Vankleek Hill Rockets are proud members of the Glengarry Soccer League and also travel to play in festivals and tournaments. The teams take the field each week sporting their silver/black/red colours.
Vankleek Hill fields minor teams from U6 all the way up to U19, as well as senior men and women's teams.
Registration is now closed for the 2019 season and the teams are being made. We are still looking for coaches for the upcoming season.
The first initiative will be a program called Phys Ed 101 in which participants will be exposed to numerous sports over the course of three 12-week semesters (fall, winter, and spring). Each semester will be broken down into specific sport units (such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, etc) which will each last 2-5 weeks. The weekly sessions will be held on Tuesday nights at Pleasant Corners Public School (6:00 pm - grades 3 to 5 and 7:30 pm - grades 6 to 8) and will follow the Long Term Player Development (LTPD) models which have become the standard across the country. LTPD stresses appropriate sized playing surfaces, small groups, greater practice to game ratios and grouping players with similar skill sets.
Promoting Sport in Vankleek Hill and surrounding areas
The Vankleek Hill Sports Club's mandate is to provide affordable recreational youth sports programs while helping to facilitate local school and competitive teams in need of financial or administrative support.
Teams playing under the VKHSC banner will be known as the Vankleek Hill Rockets and will include the Vankleek Hill teams playing in the Glengarry Soccer League.
